    This place is a good example of a "locals hangout." It took them awhile to realize I am a local. After going there regularly I guess I earned my excellent service. LOL Now I go in and get taken care of like I am family but that wasn't always the case.

    I have watched them serve the tourists. Many with kids and often in snow gear. They serve them well enough but the "locals touch" is not there. That is clearly reserved for the locals. Being a local ... I like having a place I can go and be treated like that. I don't get it at Elephant Bar, Denny's or Applebee's but I do get it at Don Pepe's. I get it at Neo's, the coffee shop, and The Bus Stop, too. Flatlanders are not looking for that for the most part. When they are up here they are just lookin for a meal. And at Don Pepe's they get a good one.

    Excellent specials. Try the monster taquitos. OMG! To die for. Monster tacos too. Excellent cocktail pour too. If you like karaoke, then go Party with Artie. Lots of fun. No kids after 10pm.

Best BBQ on the mountain. I heard they are doing it this weekend and then no longer. The place was sold so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed. If the new owner wants a sure winner, he'll use the same BBQ recipes that Al does and he'll have a winner with steady built-in customers. We can only hope!

Came up for a few days,stopped in at Don Pepe's. The food was great! My sister and I enjoyed eating at the restaurant. Service was good,friendly atmosphere. Will definately stop back in again.

I have moved out of the area but I frequent the area and I make sure I go to don peps! The shrimp tacos and finger tacos are the bomb! DON PEPES ROCKS! AND the party with Artie is great tooo!!!!

Excellent Value !!!: I am a part-time resident of the R.S. area and feel the need to tell everyone of the great value at Don Pepe's. Are you looking for good Mexican food at a reasonable price ? A place to have a beer or cocktail ? Enough space for elbow room ? Friendly staff ? Menu Variety ? A great midway point for those traveling to the Big Bear area, or any other mountain area for that matter ? Are you NOT looking for a place you never know who owns this week, if it's been closed down by ABC, or the latest biker gang fight (i.e. .. name removed .. and restaurant closed down) ? NOT looking for a small, cramped, restaurant w/ so-so food and no liquor license (i.e. .. name removed ..) ? NOT looking for just another pizza joint ? Well then Don Pepe's is your place.
